Here is a list of design styles matched with personality types.

Scandinavian

Scandinavian design originates from the Nordic countries. Natural lighting, less accessories, functional furniture with clean lines and all-white colour palettes majorly describes and distinguish this style. Catchy colours are often applied in art, throw blankets and pillows, or in an accent chair. Plants are in plenty in this style. Textures such as fur are common since the Nordic countries have long, dark and cold winters.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a here and now kind of style. It stresses on the current trends and is therefore liquid. Furniture in this style have simple and clean lines and often have exposed legs. The interiors have white, black and neutrals that spell sophistication and elegance. Also, the style incorporates large and dramatic plants with interesting shapes in simple planters. Lighting is very fundamental in a contemporary design because it helps illuminate the room’s design.

Industrial

This style is enthused by the warehouse and manufacturing industry. There is a sense of unfinished rawness in most of the elements in the design such as exposed bricks, concrete, pipes and stainless steel. The style is characterized by high ceilings, old timber, basic flooring, interesting metal light fixtures with scant distribution of vintage furniture. The industrial style has a neutral colour palette like greys, black, browns or white which contrast perfectly with the wood and metals.

Mid-century Modern

This is a design that goes back to the mid-19th century. It a style that strikes a retro and passé reminiscence with high functionality being its primary design characteristic. It stresses on organic and natural geometric forms. The furniture is anti-fuss and practically formal. Popular colours in thus design are; orange and brown, chartreuse and grey, wood and white, pink and brown. Rustic

The rustic style is a design emphasis on rugged, natural beauty. Unfinished and raw elements like wood, concrete and stones dominate in this style. The furniture is crafty with soft leather, handmade fabrics with a rich and natural texture from hemp, linen, wool, or animal hides. The atmosphere of a space is earthy, warm and highly natural due to the wooden furniture, wood floors branches, barks or twigs. Bohemian

This is one of the most popular and used style. This is a care-free type of style in terms of pattern layering, texture and colour. There are no strict rules as in the minimalist and modern styles though this style has some common practices. The Boho style is for those people who want their spaces to be full of life and culture. For the colour palette, think deep browns, greens, and greys for base colours with accessories of saturated purple, electric blue and fiery orange.

This style is characterized by consistency with patterns, elaborate furnishings, plenty of accessories, curved lines and lots of textures. Most traditional homes are dimensional and layered. Japandi

Japandi is actually a combination of two styles; Scandinavian and Japanese. Scandinavian is clean and minimalist while Japanese is warm and cozy, embracing perfection in imperfection (wabi sabi). Aesthetically, both styles are simple, inspire comfort and incorporate natural elements. Furniture is minimal with clean lines and forms. It is a relatively new trend but you can look forward to seeing it more in upcoming projects and homes.
